Teleconference / Videoconference Skills

Be an effective speaker regardless your technical venue

There are a number of technologies available to presenters, in both "live" presentations and to support distance learning. Regardless of the media used, the presenter still needs to successfully marry the medium with the message in order to be able to leave a polished, credible impression with his/her audience.

Participants will:

  • Practice delivery skill differences for each media format
  • Learn how to handle technical difficulties
  • Practice handling difficult question and answer sessions
  • Utilize the technology to enhance their content

This workshop equips the participants to deal with the challenges of “distance” meetings, where there may be significant barriers to running an effective meeting. We also address the mechanics of working with the technical components – from the mechanics of hooking up the projector to the computer and “bringing up” the presentation to presenting smoothly and competently on Internet-based media. The technologies reviewed in this class are client specific, so the skills are tailored to the technologies the participants have available to them in their workplace.

Tips for Success

Learn the Program: Do a dry run of your meeting online and know how to load your presentation, use question and answer buttons, announce participants, use polling functions, share presentations and save meeting notes.

Prepare for Challenges:

  • Have other parties information in case there is a problem connecting
  • Have a back up plan in case there is a problem with the equipment. Know how to get help and have a person designated to get assistance when needed.
