About this Newsletter That's Edu-tainment!
Chewing gum in class, answering questions without raising your hand, leaving your seat -- in a Point Taken workshop, you often get to do those 'bad behaviors' your grade school teachers warned you about. Our instructors work hard to make our workshops both educational and entertaining because we know our clients learn more when they're having fun.

Meeting Pointers: Ready for Your Closeup?
Adults approach learning differently than children, so it's important to utilize a combination of techniques that address their individual styles and preferences. As you prepare your presentation, make sure you address all three ways audience members acquire information:

  • Auditory: Learn by hearing or being told (lecture, reading assignment)
  • Visual: Learn by seeing -- either reading or watching (visual aids, slides)
  • Kinesthetic: Learn by doing (exercises)
  • By allowing your audience to hear, see and do, you engage them and leave them with a more favorable impression of your presentation. Changing the format of your talk every 10-15 minutes will also help you keep the audience's attention and heighten their retention of your information.

Point Taken's Adult Learning Concepts workshop addresses the challenges that adult learners face and teaches techniques that make the trainer more effective, and the learning process more memorable and enjoyable.

My Point Exactly: A Standing Ovation
Getting your audience to participate in your presentation not only gets them more involved, but also leaves them feeling more knowledgeable on the subject matter. You can elicit participation from your audience throughout your talk:

    At the Beginning
    Use group intro's
    Use icebreakers
    During the Meeting
Ask a question of the group
    Use games/volunteers
    At the End
Have the group summarize the key points
    Conduct a Q&A session
